Stage Write Festival is here…

After weeks of planning Stage Write Festival is finally here!  For those of you that have been living in a rabbit hole for the last few months, Stage Write is the collaboration we have been working on with No Loss Productions to bring 8 brand new plays from emerging writers to Bedford.  I cannot tell you how excited we are about this.  We have some top quality writers that have produced some incredible pieces of work over the last few months.  We have a team of excellent actors, directors and we are rearing to go.  Today kicked off with a couple of hours spent on the first two night’s plays – The Valley by Tamara Micner, Our Brave New Future by Andrew Maddock, Confetti by Tim Foley and Fractured by, well… me!  The piece I want to talk about tonight though is Confetti, largely because that’s one of the ones I’m directing; I don’t want to give too much away but this play is a knock-out.  The play focuses on an interaction between a grieving father and his son’s employer, who happens to be a young politician.  The dialogue is so well constructed and thought through – it’s the kind of script that every director dreams of, ripe with layer after layer of meaning…  I could go on, but you should come and see for yourself and then you’ll know what I mean.  But what of the writer, Tim Foley?  Well, to be fair, I’ve never met the bloke but…  we came across another of his plays, Meat, at Edinburgh last year and we were instant fans!  Again, such a well written piece that was so interesting and intriguing to watch.  You can find out more about Tim via his website http://www.timfoley.co.uk.  Definitely one to watch out for in the future, that’s for sure.  And just to whet your appetite, here’s a couple of pics from today’s rehearsals.  We will be blogging all week so make sure you keep up!
