Summer roundup

It’s been a fabulous few months of great creative stuff.  Our ‘Philadelphia’ cast worked with writer Jonathan Bousted and director John Handscombe over three days in July, with a view to taking the piece to full production next year.  The whole experience was so positive that the cast were a bit gutted when it was all over…but are excited at the prospect of performing the finished script once Jonathan has tinkered with it and generally worked his magic.

Both Phil and I were involved as actors at BedPop Arts Centre throughout August – an empty shop on Bedford High Street was transformed thanks to the innovation of Novus Theatre and the jolly hard work of Sam Turton and Simon Jackson.  We took part in performances of two new pieces of theatre, one of which was a promenade performance that led the audience through the rooms of the shop and even out onto the street.  You’d think Bedford wouldn’t be ready for something like this.  Well, think again – for the first piece we had a full house and for the promenade piece we had enough audience to take round two lots at staggered intervals (and this over two nights)!!

And so to StageWrite 2015…
